Youth Incarceration Rates Trending Down, But Still Higher Than Other Countries

 

Lock ‘em up and throw away the key! That’s a popular saying but, if the offender is young, it may not be the best approach. A new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation says youth incarceration rates are trending down and, according to Laura Speer, that’s a good thing. Speer says education and rehabilitation efforts with young offenders saves taxpayers money in the long run and is better for public safety in general.
